Multi I/O Interface
OVERVIEW / RT MIO
The DOO-RT-MIO is a multi-purpose powerline transceiver of the DimOnOff® Building automation series that allows interfacing between a wide variety of measurement devices and Powerline communication, enabling:
- Remote data acquisition of various instruments, such as:
- Pulse counters: Electricity – Gas – Vapour – Flow
- 0-5V measurement instruments (Temperature – Pressure – Humidity – Presence sensors, Photocells, etc.),
- Control of remote loads via the powerline transmission of Commands & Scenarios
The board features 6 entirely independent I/Os which can be configured via power line to send or receive analog or digital signals. It also features pulse counter functions, e.g. continuously counting pulses, adding scale factors, counting pulses over defined time intervals, etc.
All data communicated through the powerline will be recorded by the DimOnOff® Configuration, Control & Monitoring software, to build historical datasets and analysis graphs.
With these different powerline modules, complex automation environments can be designed and operated.
As a result, installation costs are substantially reduced, and control/automation networks are easily modified or expanded, simply by remote programming, since there is now a virtual link between all controlling and controlled modules.
APPLICATIONS
- Data acquisition: Use with 0-5V photocell – Pulse counter – Status meter – Temperature sensor – Humidity sensor, Pressure sensor – Motion detector, etc.
- Without the Data acquisition Daughterboard, it may be used as a standard Powerline repeater
- Automation Commands & Scenarios may be programmed to be launched on Threshold-crossing (min-max)
- Combined with a status CT, it’s possible to take into account the start up of a motor, pump or other and to record the information in the software’s database
FEATURES
- RX-TX, with user-selectable Repeating feature 6 independent I/Os configurable as digital input, digital output and analog input
- Two 0-5V, 100-step trimmer potentiometer analog outputs (I/O1 and I/O2)
- LED indicators for Power, CPU, CFG and Tx/Rx
- Designed to create flexible, smart automation systems for residential, commercial and industrial lighting
- Enables Remote monitoring of equipment, and Remote control of DimOnOff® relays over the power lines, or over the Internet (Specify DOO-Mod-Eth, Powerline-Ethernet modem)
- Reliable powerline communication in high attenuation (0.5Ω min.) and noisy electrical environments
- FCC part 15 and Industry Canada ICES-006 compliant
- UL Pending

PROGRAMMABLE FUNCTIONS
The DOO-RT-MIO includes various programmable functions, such as:
- Each pin is configurable to the following settings: Digital input, Digital output, Analog input
- Digital in mode: Enumeration that determines the digital input mode:
- 0 = Normal
- 1 = Pulse Counter sends Total number of pulses on Periodic transmissions
- 2 = Digital Output sends Number of pulses detected since Last transmission when using Periodic transmission
- Analog Input
- Rising /Falling Edge Group: Group on which a Scenario is broadcasted when a falling edge is detected at the input. (32767 possible Groups). If set to 0, no Scenario is sent
- Rising /Falling Edge Scenario: Scenario number sent when a falling edge is detected at the input. 16-bit integer from 1 to 1023. If set to 0, no Scenario is sent
- Pulse Counter
-Transmission Period: Period (seconds) between each transmission of the pulses count.
- K Factor: Number of pulses detected before incrementing the counter
- Edge: The edge on which a pulse is declared. Used in pulse counter mode only. (0 = falling; 1 = rising)
-Transmission on k-factor: If set to True, the DOO-RT-MIO sends its current pulse count every time the k-factor is reached
- Logical Output State
·- 0 = Low; 1 = High; 2 = N/A

CAUTIONS AND NOTES
The DOO-RT-MIO must be installed into an electrical box with proper size.
Only used for junction boxes where min. 90°C wiring is used.
These devices are intended for installation in accordance with your local electric code and regulations. It is recommended that a qualified electrician perform this installation.
A transmitter is required to communicate with the module and is sold separately. (Specify DOO-Mod-USB or DOO-Mod-Eth to be used with DimOnOff® Configuration, Control & Monitoring software)
