Power Meter - 3-Phase
OVERVIEW / DOO-RT-PM-3
The DOO-RT-PM-3 is a 3-Phases Power meter that uses powerline communication to transmit its different measurements, to a PC located on the same Powerline network, or to a Powerline-Ethernet modem that will transmit these results anywhere on the Internet.
The following measurements can be sampled for each phase:
- Active / reactive / apparent energy
- Active / reactive / apparent power
- Power factor actual voltage rms
- Actual current rms for each phase
- Periodic transmission of the active energies
The DOO-RT-PM-3 represents an important element of the DimOnOff® Building automation series, enabling Remote data acquisition of power consumption through time, and therefore, making it simple and economical to establish a network of Sub-meters that will help engineers better understand when and where power is consumed, and help them bring enlightened control & automation solutions to reduce the costs of energy.
All data communicated through the powerline will be recorded by the DimOnOff® Configuration, Control & Monitoring software, to build historical datasets and analysis graphs.
For monitoring remote sites (equipped with an Internet connection), use the DimOnOff Powerline-Ethernet modem (DOO- MOD-Eth). The standalone Modem is ideal for enabling Remote Monitoring & Control, Scheduling, Diagnostic and Automation of remote sites, communicating with a central host computer through an Ethernet network.
No PC is necessary at the remote site; only an Ethernet connection at both remote and central host site, and a Server-PC at the central host site.
With the pervasive internet, the opportunity is in creating value proposition in building automation. By using the simplicity and power of the DimOnOff powerline systems, data from the various power meters can be aggregated at a central server (remote from the point of measure) and used as an Input for Monitoring & Targeting systems, or ESCO’s – Engineering firms that derive revenues from energy consumption analysis & savings of commercial / industrial buildings.
APPLICATION EXAMPLE: Energy monitoring

APPLICATION EXAMPLES
- Load Shedding: The DimOnOff® Configuration, Control, Monitoring and Automation software enables analysis of the energy consumption and can proceed to punctual shedding of loads, in a cyclical manner, in order to ensure that a specified maximum level of consumption will not be exceeded.
- Automation of Commands & Scenarios may be programmed to be launched when a maximum consumption Threshold has been exceeded (Threshold-crossing)
FEATURES
- 2-way communication, i.e., can be queried
- Measurement of : (For each Phase): Amps – Volts – Power – Energy – Power Factor
- Can be configured only as an Ampere meter
- Much simpler installation on high-voltages
- No energy measurement in that configuration
- Enables Remote monitoring of equipment, over the power lines, and over the Internet (Specify DOO-Mod-Eth, Powerline-Ethernet modem)
- Supplied with a standard 12” x 12” x 4” metal enclosure

CAUTIONS AND NOTES
The DOO-RT-PM-3 is supplied with a standard 12” x 12” x 4” metal enclosure.
These devices are intended for installation in accordance with your local electric code and regulations. It is recommended that a qualified electrician perform this installation.
A transmitter is required to communicate with the Power meter and is sold separately. (Specify DOO-Mod-USB or DOO-Mod-Eth to be used with DimOnOff® Configuration, Control & Monitoring software)
WIRING EXAMPLE

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
- Disconnect power at the circuit breaker before installation
- Install the Power meter near the load to be monitored
- Install the .333 volt CT’s and connect them to the CT’s terminal inside the Power Meter enclosure.
- When used with voltage reading, connect the proper voltage to the voltage terminal inside the Power meter enclosure. (The voltage reading is protected with fuses
- Connect the Power Meter to the 120-1-60. Follow L1 N topology.
- Close cover.
