Dimonoff featured on Nasdaq TradeTalks to discuss how the Internet of Things (IoT) supports climate solutions and smarter energy management.
Dimonoff Featured in Radio-Canada’s Report on the Future of Smart Cities
Dimonoff was recently featured in a special Radio-Canada report as part of the program “Québec 2050: AI to Improve Citizens’ Lives”. The segment highlights Quebec’s leadership in urban connectivity and positions Dimonoff as a driving force in building the smart cities of tomorrow.
In this report, journalist Jean-François Blanchet explores, among other things, the solutions developed by Dimonoff, particularly in the areas of smart street lighting and connected parking management, already deployed in several major North American cities.
Thanks to its technologies, Dimonoff makes it possible to adjust urban lighting in real time based on nighttime movements, thereby saving energy, reducing light pollution, and improving the management of peak electricity demand.
“Across Quebec, if our system were deployed everywhere, we could cut 150 gigawatt-hours of energy and 50 megawatts of instantaneous power… with a single click."
Jostran Lamontagne, Vice President of Sales & Marketing
Major Projects Across Quebec
City of Montréal
In Montréal, Dimonoff led one of the largest smart lighting projects in North America. In collaboration with the City, more than 132,000 streetlights were converted to LED and connected to the centralized management platform Dimonoff | SCMS. This system makes it possible to monitor and control public lighting in real time, with a level of precision that facilitates adjustments based on specific needs: special events, neighborhood safety, or traffic density.
The deployment allowed the City to achieve energy savings of 35% and reduce maintenance costs by 55%. In addition to improving energy performance, this project demonstrates Montréal’s ability to position itself as a leader in the smart city movement.
Fédération québécoise des municipalités (FQM)
An ambitious provincial project, carried out in partnership with the Fédération québécoise des municipalités (FQM) and Énergère, enabled about twenty small Quebec municipalities to transition to smart lighting. These communities, often limited in human and financial resources, now have access to technological infrastructure as advanced as that of major metropolitan areas.
In total, 145,000 streetlights were converted, enabling centralized, efficient, and energy-saving management of the public lighting network. This digital shift generated annual savings of more than $6.8 million, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 1,268 tons each year. With a payback period of only four years, the investment quickly proved profitable.
Beyond financial and environmental gains, this initiative shows that access to smart technologies can, and should, be inclusive, regardless of a municipality’s size. It is concrete proof that efficiency, sustainability, and equity can go hand in hand in Quebec’s digital transformation.
A Local Company with International Reach
Building on its achievements in Quebec, Dimonoff is now establishing itself on the international stage, where its expertise in smart infrastructure management is increasingly in demand.
In the United States, several major cities have chosen to trust Dimonoff to modernize their urban lighting networks. The city of Columbus, Ohio, deployed a complete solution based on the SCMS platform, enabling centralized control of thousands of luminaires across its territory. Meanwhile, the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, integrated Dimonoff’s technologies into an ambitious smart city program aimed at optimizing energy efficiency and improving citizens’ quality of life.
Mexico is also part of this dynamic international growth, with several pilot projects currently underway, reflecting the growing interest in Dimonoff’s solutions in Latin American markets. These initiatives demonstrate the versatility and robustness of Dimonoff’s technologies, capable of adapting to diverse cultural, regulatory, and climatic contexts.
