Radio-Canada featured Dimonoff in a report produced for Québec 2050, its series on how artificial intelligence and connected technology are changing the services a city delivers. Journalist Jean-François Blanchet reported the segment.
The lighting argument in it is the one this site makes throughout: a streetlight that can be adjusted in real time, according to what is actually happening on the street at night, uses less energy, throws less light where nobody needs it, and gives a utility something to work with at peak demand. A streetlight on a timer does none of those things.
The report drew on the Quebec deployments — Montréal, and the provincial programme run with the Fédération québécoise des municipalités — and on the North American projects that followed them.
