Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures installed 80 smart LED no-parking signs, working with Dimonoff and Orange Traffic. Orange Traffic supplied the illuminated signage; the Dimonoff platform provides centralised control of the set.
The signs are activated by sector, when clearing, plowing or blowing is planned in that area. That is the whole point of the exercise. Before, a restriction applied across the entire town for the duration of every operation, whether or not a given street had been reached. Now the restriction can be lifted in a sector as soon as its operation is finished.
For a resident this changes an ordinary winter annoyance: the sign on the street says what applies on that street tonight, rather than a blanket rule announced elsewhere. For the municipality it turns snow removal into something that can be coordinated sector by sector rather than declared all at once.
